This rare five drawer sideboard / credenza is an outstanding mid century modern design from the prominent designer Nils Jonsson for Hugo Troeds. Troeds, established in 1934, manufactured high end mid-century furniture and was notable for its early collaborations with mid-century luminaries Yngve Ekstrom and Nils Jonsson, whose designs epitomise the “Scandinavian Modernist” movement..

While little biographical information is available on the designer, his sideboards and credenzas are highly sought after collector pieces. Jonsson is known for his recognised Trio, Trento, Gigant and Arild designs..

This impressive teak sideboard, named “Trio” is a classic modernist design piece. To the left and right are sliding doors hiding storage with an adjustable shelf. In the centre sit five drawers in an eye-catching beehive slant design. The top drawer reveals a set of birch dividers, for traditional storage of dining cutlery and is lined with blue baize. The legs are lightly tapered.
